General discussion • How to fix the right-hand mouse cursor when over buttons?

Pi OS Bookworm has had this issue where the PiXflat mouse cursor theme is missing some symbols, or they are incorrectly assigned, such that hovering over links in a browser looks like this:

The correct behavior is to use an up-pointing hand arrow, not the left-hand arrow. GTK3 apps do this correctly, albeit by reverting to the Adwaita theme.

Around a year ago, I remember seeing someone post a fix.

The solution involved symlinking a few cursor theme files in /usr/share/icons/PiXflat/cursors.

Early this year, I remember getting an email notification to a subscribed topic, and remember someone posting a fix. However, after about an hour of searching the forum today, I've only found other people reporting the same issue, without any solutions:Worst of all, that github issue linked above contains proof of the thread I'm remembering. On the old Beta Testing forum last year, I started a thread about this exact issue. Now it appears that everything in that forum has been made inaccessible?? It makes me sad that I cannot view my own stuff anymore. This link no longer works for me. viewtopic.php?t=370970

Could one of the mods look at that now inaccessible topic I started and check if near the end it contains someone proposing a fix?
