Welcome to the forum!Hi,
I bought a pi5 8gb at launch and honestly never used it much as it would freeze all the time. I assumed it was just software as it was new , i have loads of pi4's and never had any issues with them.
So, this week i bought the pi5 a new case, with nvme. I got it all built, flashed the latest os onto the nvme and all went great. Boots up super fast, excellent. I left the pi running while i had dinner, came back to it and it was off, just a red light. I hit the power switch and nothing changed. I tried reconnecting the power supply, no change. Tried a different supply, still just the red light. I've tried all the suggested fixes, no dice.
I contacted the pi hut and explained the situation, unfortunately its a little over a year old so they pointed me here for warranty help. How would i go about getting it repaired or replaced? I checked this morning and it seems to have no 3v on the gpio, the usb ports are all dead and no hdmi.
Any help would be amazing, thank you
Jas
In sorry to hear about your Pi 5 problems.
No 3V sounds like something is wrong with the PMIC to me. It's possible that baking your Pi to reflow the solder could help, but likely not.
There was a recent report

that it's possible to upgrade a 2GB Pi in the field by replacing the memory chip. If you have the correct equipment, you could try buying the cheaper 2GB model and swapping the RAM from the broken one. Whether that works or not, it would make an interesting blog.
Unfortunately, that's all I know.
