More than 4 cores - this is very subjective but would a hex or octo-core Raspberry Pi actually feel (noticeably) faster in day-to-day use for the majority of users and would any additional costs of having more than 4 cores be worth it?
I would love more cores! I do mathematical computation and I hammer every core on my Pi5's at 100% solidly for weeks at a time. My projects tend to scale perfectly (or very close) with the number of cores, so having 8 cores compared to 4 would be like having twice as many Pi's for only a small extra cost.
Same here. An 8 core CM6 product would help a lot. I don't know the footprint of the Pi5 SoC but adding more cores doesn't always take up that much extra silicon area - in the RP235x there are actually 4 cores - 2 ARMs and 2 RISC-V, and they can afford to put two to sleep. Obviously the Pi5 has much larger cores but one wonders what the silicon size increase would be. However it totally depends on what Broadcom produce of course and it may be 4 cores is enough for their mainstream customers.
