General discussion • Compatibility of TP-Link TL-WDN4800 with Mini PCIe to USB adapter for CSI collection on Raspberry Pi

I'm working on my bachelor's thesis, and the goal is to detect gestures, breathing, and human presence in a room using Wi-Fi signals. The setup involves a basic access point (like TP-Link) and collecting CSI (Channel State Information) data, which we then analyze on a computer and visualize through an application.

My main challenge is doing this in a cost-effective way. I was considering using a network card like the Intel AX210 or Intel 5300, but both use an M.2 Key E interface, while my laptop only has USB ports, so I can’t connect them directly.

I thought about buying a mini PC or finding a suitable adapter, but I couldn’t find any USB adapter that works with these cards — especially since AX210 requires CNVi and isn't USB-compatible.

As an alternative, I’m considering using a TP-Link TL-WDN4800 (based on Atheros AR9380) with a Mini PCIe to USB adapter, connected to a Raspberry Pi. Since Mini PCIe interfaces are better supported with adapters, this seems more feasible.

What do you think about using raspberry here? Could it work properly?
