Sorry, not quite clear on what you are asking but with one of my RPO I have the follwing:I am setting up a kiosk type system that will be turned off daily. I still need a writeable drive. I have learnt from this forum that using an RPi setup with Overlay FS enabled with a separate disk drive is the best way to achieve this.
How long would the overlaid "read-only" SD card probably last knowing that it will be rebooted daily ? Months ? Years ?
- The / set to RO with the memory overlay. The only problem I found with this is that over time memory starts to be reduced primarily with system log. My solution is to reboot but long term I want to redirect the logs to a my external drive. That I see as a best practice so I don't lose info if I need to debug a problem. Sorry, haven't looked how to do the redirect.
- External USB stick as an external drive formatted with EXT4
