Or use "computer" speakers that have a built in amplifier, in which case, just connect with a 3mm (aka 1/8") audio cable. You can get away with a stereo cable and ignore the 4th connection (analog video) in the A/V jack on the Pi.Use a 3.5mm stereo jack to phono cable to connect the Pi to an amplifier. Connect speakers to the amplifier.
